ABSTRACT
In
this research work, a detail study and thorough analysis of existing systems
for vehicle tracking using geographical information syste(GIS) and wireless
network were carried out techniques for monitoring fleet of vehicles on long
distance or on a journey were identified and analyzed.
INTRODUCTION
Vehicle is a major device or tool for road
transportation. Its management is also an important part of the transportation
system. Road road transportation involve transportation of people and goods
from place to place across the country. It also serves as a means of exchange
of information between different places and destinations.
For a vehicle to discharge its duties
satisfactory and up to date adequate are needs to be given to its maintenance,
management and safety.
Several among the natural and man induced
phenomenon common to vehicles in nigeria and world over include the following.

Theft
·
Road mishaps
·
Loss and diversion
·
Accident
OBJECTIVE
OF PROJECT
This
study has its primary objectives, the design of a system with the corperate
goals and objectives. Also a system that wiil be immense benefit to the
government, operators and passengers of all categories in the tracking and
monitoring of vehicles.
Other objectives of the study are
to
· Develop a cost effective,
efficient in intelligent and user friendly graphic interface for vehicle
tracking system.
· Enforce the timely and
accurate report of vehicle operational delays and other road mishaps.
METHODOLOGY
First
the design of the proposed system was done.
Secondly,
existing literature on the application of computer technology in vehicle
tracking using GIS and wireless network were carefully reviewed.
